Rev. Jean Leak, MS, RN, LCPC
RSO President & Founder
Jean Leak, MS, RN, LCPC is a registered nurse and licensed clinical pastoral counselor who serves the Maryland-metropolitan area. Her nursing emphasis has focused on the health and well-being of women, particularly those who are high risk during pregnancy. While her delight has been to provide care for babies who, by virtue of complications at birth, are placed in neonatal intensive care units (NICU) both in the hospital and in the community once they are able to go home, Ms. Leak is driven by her concern for preventing or significantly reducing the need for NICU services by educating and caring for mothers before risks to pregnancies become realities. Consistent with this focus is her dedication to counseling, educating and mentoring girls and young adults females, especially those socially disadvantaged, on achieving age-appropriate sexual health, preventing unwanted/unplanned pregnancies, and most importantly, making optimum use of their youth and single marital status to develop, enrich, and empower themselves to be strong and influential contributors to their community and world. This necessarily involves completing their high school education and taking the needed steps toward a financially rewarding and satisfying career. Ms. Leak's service to the community in the area of pre and postnatal care to women, case-management, program development, and health education exceeds 30 years.
As co-founder and vice-president of Guide Global Health Initiatives (GGHI) and CEO of the RSO Network, an initiative of GGHI, Ms. Leak has devoted her professional skills to developing and implementing health education, prevention programs for infants, children, women, and families at risk for health and social decline due to the devastating effects of poverty, socio-economic disadvantage, and race and gender health inequity. To ensure that her messages and programs reach a more vast audience with greater impact, she is currently incorporating her added educational background in broadcasting to produce health education and inspirational programming on GGHI's newly developed multi-media App called the RSO APP Network.
Consistent with the overall approach of GGHI-RSO Network to be holistic in our understanding, prevention, and treatment of public health and social concerns affecting our communities, Ms. Leak has focused her research, training, and practice as a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor on the integration of health disciplines for maximizing the health of those she serves...body, mind, and spirit. The recent publication of a study that she along with her like-minded colleagues completed in 2017, entitled 'Application of Faith-Based integration tool to assess mental physical health interventions' testifies to her passion to bring this shifting paradigm to the forefront for promoting health and social change.
Ms. Leak (aka Rev. Leak) is also an ordained minister who has spoken to and conducted retreats and other faith-based interventions for a wide variety of audiences. She is co-author of the Living Free curriculum entitled One Nation Under God: Toward Race Reconciliation, which, once again, targets addressing the social problem of racial intolerance and other forms of social ills by tappping into the rich soil of the faith community for promoting and influencing social change.
